Farewell

Today was card distribution day. I was really happy to see familiar faces especially my students and their parents.

I gave out a compilation of SPB pictures and a slideshow in a CD so that your child can always look back and remember his/her SPB days. You may access the CD using a computer.

We're off to see...

Dear students and parents,

I can't believe the school year is over. I will truly miss the kids.
I hope they will remember what they have learned and put these into good use as they move up to first grade. Thank you parents for all your support, love, and understanding.

To my kids, thank you for the laughter, smiles, and hugs. Good job for all
your efforts this year!

Welcome to the Land of Oz

I am very excited to announce that our theme for this year's Recognition Day (March 12, 2008) is Kids Premiere. The SPB will be doing a number from the all time movie classic "The Wizard of Oz." This 1939 film was directed by Victor Fleming.

"The Wizard of Oz" is based on a book written in the 1900s by L. Frank Baum. The film's signature song, " Somewhere Over The Rainbow" sung by Judy Garland has been voted as one of the greatest songs of all time.

Here is a short synopsis (taken from Wikipedia):

The film follows Kansas girl Dorothy Gale who lives on her aunt and uncle's depression-era farm while dreaming of a better place. After a destructive tornado hits the farm, Dorothy and her dog Toto are magically transported to the Land of Oz. Dorothy is instructed by the Good Witch of the North to follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, to meet the Wizard of Oz who may know how to return her to Kansas. During her journey she meets a Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, who aid her in her journey to the Emerald City hoping to receive what they each lack themselves (a brain, a heart and courage, respectively).

I strongly suggest that you watch the movie with your child. :)
More details and suggested costumes to follow!

As a prize, they get to get as many candies
from the sock using only one hand! Looks

Eating time!

Waiting for our turn to perform.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

The SPB sang a very nice country song for our Christmas festivities
in school. I am posting the lyrics. May we all find joy and meaning
this Christmas season!

Happy Birthday Jesus
by Alabama

Happy birthday, Jesus, it's that time of year
All the lights on the trees say Christmas time is near
Another year's behind us, you helped us make it through
So, happy birthday, Jesus, this song is just for you

We all get so hung up on material things at times it seems like we forget
What Christmas really means
It should be thanks we're givin', that's why I wrote this tune
Happy birthday, Jesus, this song is just for you

There's a gift for everyone but you underneath the tree
No, it's not much, but I hope you like this song to you from me

Happy birthday Jesus, that's why I wrote this tune
So, happy birthday, Jesus, my song is just for you.
